Being sick last week caused a few problems in getting some items on my task list completed on schedule.  The good news is there were some other site issues that came up during the week that I had been putting off for a long time, which are being resolved now.  You probably noticed some of the changes and not the rest.  The change of the category names for Uppers was likely seen by some.  Some of the parts moving from the wrong categories to the correct ones may have been caught by some as well.  Larger back end changes this weekend were most certainly missed.  This leads to the main topic for this update…

When I first started working on the site, I used my experience and attempted to make the right coding decisions as I went.  That said, there was a bit of urgency to get the site usable for the public… so some choices were made based on time constraints.  It kind of snowballed from there as more people used the site and you guys (and gals) drove some of the new features.  It seems that, for the most part, my choices in how to implement certain core functionality were pretty solid.  But, there have been a few things I have reviewed as the months passed… that just were plain wrong.  I was right at the time perhaps, but I did not envision some of the potential headaches that would result as the site changed/grew.

So… you will likely not see much happen on the site over the next week or so.  Despite appearances, I will be performing a lot of not so flashy changes to support the future goals of the site and rewriting some things that have been causing my time to be devoted to maintenance instead of  progress.  If something goes completely crazy on the site for a few minutes, I am likely both at fault and also working to fix it.
